1. Use a beginning Mortal point spread: Attributes: 6/4/3 Abilities: 11/7/4 Backgrounds: 5 Virtues: 7 Freebies: 21 2. Do not count Merits against your point spread. Realistically, the average person has a lot more "Merits" than the average character and it's not like we get the supernatural benefits or anything. I am ok with counting Flaws, as long as you truly have the Flaw. For instance, I put down "Cheese" as an Addiction. While it's sort of true, I am not taking the points for it because I CAN resist it. Feel free to tone down Flaw points given if the Flaw sort of fits (in a mortal way), but not to the extent it is described in the book. A good example of this is Overextended. Nobody would argue that I'm not, but I certainly am not in the way the book describes. Do not take highly supernatural Merits or Flaws (duh!). I mean, you might put down "Acute Sense" if, like me, you have a strangely strong scence of smell and of course it's nothing supernatural. However, if you put down Infertile Vitae, I'm going to wonder about your mental halth. 3. Be realistic. Who's going to believe you if you have a 5 in Appearance or a Humanity 10? 4. If you just cannot represent yourself accurately using the expected point structure, then just do your best. This is for fun, it's not like you'll be rolling this sheet!
