Who is your favorite band? Or singer? Or DJ? Or rapper?
Feel free to list more than one!
There are two bands that are forever tied for the position of Favorite, for me. They are:
Pantera, and Tool.
I could listen to that stuff forever and ever. The former is from the Great State o'Texas, most of them. Dimebag Darrell Abbott, the lead guitarist for Pantera, Damageplan and holder of several spots in the Top 100 Guitar Solos of all time, was murdered in December of 2004 during a show, in front of his own brother (Vinnie Paul, drummer for Pantera and Damageplan). RIP Dimebag.
Tool has always been a favorite, and Maynard is testament that there are still musicians out there who are willing to sacrifice time in order to put out a quality album. A Perfect Circle is another great project of his.

Well my taste are a bit less hard metal but I always did enjoy Tool. Pantera was always to much. I could listen to it once but that was about it. But what happened to Dimebag was a shame.
right now the bands that I listen to are a bit eclectic in taste. first there is Arcade Fire. I love their sound I don't know if it's considered Emo I think they are. Beck always love Beck Manu Chao the man has some very cool pseudo Reggae Latin, French, Arabian, Rock sounds. Amadou & Mariam. Came to this very melodic African duo through Manu Chao. I just got to say that if you feel like killing your self put on their last records and just let the joy fill you. Modest Mouse got to love Modest Mouse Salsa Celtica, All i have to say is that these Scotts have Caribbean Blood in their veins.
And my favorite Singer of all times is Hector Lavoe. when it come to Salsa this man was "El Cantante" "Thee Singer"

I'm going to have to check some of those out, they sound pretty good. Except Beck, I've always been a fan so I already know who that is. =) And except Modest Mouse, who I happen to think is one of the things wrong with the world of music today, but that's just a personal opinion. Tool and Pantera are my favorites among the heavy metal genre, though to be fair I have pretty eclectic tastes as well. It just so happens that my favorite is metal! I would have to say for Alternative Rock, my favorites by far are Foo Fighters, Nickelback (who I know TM loves as well), Fuel, and Red Hot Chili Peppers of about equal value.

Aw geez, a music thread? Who'da thunk' it?
I have such a wide erray of musical favorites that it would be folly to try and list them all...still, I can list quite a few. In order of category!
Rap/Hip-Hop: Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mystikal, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris. Yin-Yang Twins...a pretty exhaustive list, really. I loves me some urban culture.
Rock/Metal: Metallica, Linkin Park, Nickleback, Zao, Coal Chamber, TFI, Pillar, Skillet, Blind Side, Kutless, 7 Stones, Jars of Clay, Evanessence, Alien Ant Farm, Disturbed, Stained, Coldplay, Fuel, Bush, A Simple Plan, Adema, Hoobastank, Kenna, Spineshank...
...I think I'll stop there.
Then there is everything else. All the pop stuff I listen to, the techno, the country, the Bluegrass, the Friggin' Tribal music and percussion esnembles, like Stomp.
I listen to it all, man. To it ALL.

I, too, have ecclectic musical tastes.
Always been a big fan of Frank Sinatra and big band music. Still trying to track down a recording of "This Happy Madness"
I've got a soft spot for Flatt & Scruggs (Bluegrass masters). Listened to that in the car with my dad.
Huge fan of Nine Inch Nails, Type O Negative, Tool. I like to explore the dark side of myself at times.
I also like Sarah Mclachlan, Dar Williams, and some other insightful, meaningful, female singer/songwriters. Speaking of which, Simon & Garfunkle are perennial favorites, too.
A band I just can't get enough of is Ozric Tentacles. It's a British space-rock band. VERY trippy stuff. Puts me in a very interesting state of mind. "Kick Muck" is a great tune.
Dave Matthews band is great to get relaxing with.

Dave Matthews has a crapload of talent, I'll give him that. I can't stand to listen to his stuff for too long though, just not my style. I can appreciate it however.
Also, the more I hear Manu Chao, the more I like. What kind of music is it considered? And what's this guy's story? Man I love the sound, it's very original. Speaks to me, even. A little bit of Sublime-ish reggae, a little Beck-esque folk rock/guitar, a little bit of latino love.

Manu Chao from what I know is a French raised Spaniard. He went down to South America and seemed to have fallen in love with the people there. The same happened in North Africa. He is a political activist and denounce the past live 8 concert as a promotional ploy and refused an invitation to play at the concert. His band before he went solo was the Franco Spanish rock band Mano Negra. He sings in Spanish, French, English, Arabic and more. And he considers himself a citizen of the World. If you can read french or spanish check out his official site: Manuchao.net. and a interview at: www.npr.org/programs/asc/archives/asc02/index.html#manu
